About Willmott Energy

Future sustainable energy consumption will utilise renewable energy from non-food sources with minimum impact on the environment, particularly in relation to greenhouse gas emissions.

Willmott Energy, a division of Willmott Forests Limited, believes that Australia's renewable plantation resource will be an important source of biomass targeted by next generation biofuels technologies.

Willmott Energy is at the forefront of renewable plantation energy development opportunities through the investment by Willmott Forests Limited in Ethanol Technologies Ltd and the BioForest Group.

Ethanol Technologies (Ethtec) is developing commercial scale second generation technology to convert woody fibre (lignocellulose) into ethanol. If commercialised, this technology could provide all of Australia's low-greenhouse impact liquid fuel demand through ethanol produced from lignocellulosic biomass, without interfering with food production or causing land or other environmental degradation.

The BioForest Group has established renewable energy plantations utilising the Australian hardwood species, She-oak. The She-oak biomass will be utilised to provide carbon neutral fuel sources, particularly in the generation of electricity.
